Here is the Cutting Edge Metal team’s roundup of this week’s essential new metal releases…

Nunslaughter – Satanic Chaos Legions

Genre: Death Metal

About: Formed in Pittsburgh in 1987 and long based out of Cleveland, Ohio, Nunslaughter have spent nearly four decades as one of underground extreme metal's most relentlessly prolific acts — amassing over 200 releases, the vast majority splits, EPs, and live recordings. Self-dubbed purveyors of "Devil Metal," the band trades in Satanism-driven anti-Christian themes rooted in the raw, blunt end of early death metal and grindcore-flavored punk. Satanic Chaos Legions is only their sixth full-length, and the first since signing with BLKIIBLK Records — marking a new chapter for a band that has otherwise operated almost entirely in the underground. Their previous LP, Angelic Dread, was released in 2014 on Hells Headbangers. Listen on Spotify.

Eternios – Requiem for the North

Genre: Blackened Symphonic Death Metal

About: Eternios is a Vancouver, British Columbia-based project founded by multi-instrumentalist Colin Ryley, also known for his work in Hyperia and Bayonet Dismemberment. Originally conceived as a one-man studio project, Eternios debuted with Mysterium in January 2025 — an album praised for blending aggressive black metal with sweeping orchestral arrangements. Requiem for the North is the project's sophomore full-length, a winter-themed record Ryley describes as a love letter to Canada's northern wilderness; it marks the transition to a full live band. The album is self-released. Listen on Spotify.

Monument of Misanthropy – Washington State Charm

Genre: Brutal Death Metal / Technical Death Metal

About: Founded in Vienna, Austria in 2010 by vocalist Georg Wilfinger, Monument of Misanthropy has built a reputation for concept albums centered on notorious serial killers. Washington State Charm is their fourth full-length and the first release under a new deal with French label Listenable Records, following Vile Postmortem Irrumatio (2024), a critically acclaimed record focused on Ed Kemper. This time the subject is Ted Bundy — thirteen tracks chronicling his crimes from the Pacific Northwest through his capture and execution, blending brutal and technical death metal with deathcore influence. Listen on Spotify.

Haggus – The Mincecore Manifesto

Genre: Mincecore / Goregrind

About: Oakland, California's Haggus formed in 2014 and quickly became one of the most prolific and well-regarded acts in the DIY mincecore underground, racking up over 50 releases in roughly a decade in a style drawing from Agathocles, Archagathus, and goregrind. The Mincecore Manifesto is an eight-track EP arriving one year after Destination Extinction (2025), their debut for Oakland imprint Tankcrimes. Lyrically the record skews hard into the political climate of 2026, pairing stripped-down, hyperfast songwriting with direct anti-fascist and anti-capitalist themes. Listen on Spotify.

Astriferous – Atavistic Unraveling

Genre: Death Metal / Caverncore

About: Astriferous emerged from San José, Costa Rica around 2019, featuring members also known from Bloodsoaked Necrovoid and Umbra Conscientia, and released their debut full-length Pulsations from the Black Orb in 2023 to considerable underground attention. The band operates in the tradition of Incantation, Morbid Angel, and early Finnish death metal — dissonant, cavernous, and rooted firmly in early-'90s brutality. Atavistic Unraveling is their sophomore album, co-released by Me Saco Un Ojo and Pulverised Records, and is described by the band and reviewers alike as a heavier, weirder, and more fully realized step forward from the debut. Listen on Spotify.

And the unearthed and on rotation underground bands this week include: UNDUSTED, and VILT
