Nukem - The Grave Remains

Genre: Thrash Metal

About: Formed in 2012 in San Diego, California, Nukem play old-school Bay Area-style thrash that wears its influences proudly while hitting with modern force. Their 2016 debut, The Unholy Trinity, was mixed and mastered by Ulrich Wild and released via Sleaszy Rider Records out of Greece. The Grave Remains is their long-awaited sophomore effort, recorded once again with Ulrich Wild and released via Redefining Darkness. Archspire — Too Fast to Die

Genre: Technical Death Metal

About: Vancouver's Archspire have been one of the defining forces in technical death metal since their formation in 2009, earning a Juno Award for their 2021 album Bleed the Future. Too Fast to Die is their fifth studio album and their first as a fully independent band, funded through a crowdfunding campaign that raised nearly $400,000 CAD. The album was produced by longtime collaborator Dave Otero at his Denver studio and marks a new chapter for the band following the addition of drummer Spencer Moore. Listen on Spotify.

Inferi — Heaven Wept

Genre: Technical/Melodic Death Metal

About: Nashville's Inferi have been a flagship act in technical death metal since reforming in 2011 and releasing their debut The Path of Apotheosis in 2014. The band rose to wider recognition with 2018's Revenant and continued with Vile Genesis in 2021. Heaven Wept is their sixth full-length, released via The Artisan Era, and arrives following several lineup shifts. The album incorporates more dissonant harmonies and symphonic backing than previous records, with lyrical themes leaning toward fantasy rather than the sci-fi of past releases. Listen on Spotify.

Immolation — Descent

Genre: Death Metal

About: New York death metal institution Immolation have been a defining force in the genre since their landmark 1991 debut Dawn of Possession. Descent is their twelfth studio album, released via Nuclear Blast Records, and follows their critically acclaimed 2022 record Acts of God. The album continues the band's exploration of Gnostic themes, chronicling the descent of failed empires, corruption, and the human soul, mixed and mastered by longtime collaborator Zack Ohren with cover art by Eliran Kantor. Vomitory — In Death Throes

Genre: Death Metal / Swedish Death Metal

About: Swedish death metal institution Vomitory have been unleashing their brand of no-frills brutality since 1989. After releasing eight albums between 1996 and 2011, the band went on hiatus before reforming for their 30th anniversary shows and releasing their acclaimed comeback record All Heads Are Gonna Roll in 2023 via Metal Blade Records. In Death Throes is their tenth studio album, featuring a refined lineup that now includes guitarist Christian Fredriksson as a permanent member, and continues their uncompromising approach to bone-crushing Swedish death. Caustic — Inner Deflagration

Genre: Death Metal

About: Formed in 1992 in Molins de Rei, Catalonia, Spain, Caustic are veterans of the European death metal underground who have released records at a notoriously slow pace — with gaps of six, ten, and now eleven years between albums. Inner Deflagration is their fourth full-length, released via Horror Pain Gore Death Productions, and marks their return after a long period of silence. Rooted in the tradition of early 1990s death metal, the album combines brutal riffing and punishing rhythms with influence drawn from bands like Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, and Morbid Angel. Inherit the Curse — All We Are Is Dust

Genre: Melodic Death Metal / Hardcore

About: Inherit the Curse are a nihilistic hardcore/melodic death metal band from Bremen, Germany, formed in 2022. All We Are Is Dust is their independently released full-length, featuring ten tracks that blend crushing metallic hardcore with melodic death metal aggression. The band is a relatively new name in the European underground scene with a growing live presence. Listen on Spotify.
